Land Art
Get hands on with nature. Transform and enhance your surroundings by creating temporary forms and capturing fleeting moments of inspiration.
This workshop is designed for people who want to get directly in contact with nature and go beyond the boundaries of traditional art disciplines. We use the natural materials and characteristics of the environment to create intriguing forms grown from the land.
Think of branches, twigs, pebbles, leaves or clay and how you can organize them into a twisting labyrinth, tranquil nest, long winding trail or other meaningful design, and thus transforming the spot. Famous sculptors such as Richard Long and Andy Goldsworthy have made beautiful and powerful art in this way. This kind of art is always temporary, time, season and cycles are often important components of it.
On day one of the course we go and explore the immediate environment and see what materials we find, what spots are inspiring and what sculptures we can make. Then we start to transform the chosen spots. The tutor is always there to coach, help and inspire. At the end of each morning we review the work as a group, there are opportunities to take photos of the works so bringing a camera is a must!
You can work on a Land-Art project as an individual or as a group. In fact it’s ideal as a team-building project.
